My students need a warm welcoming environment with classroom supplies that will enrich their learning with relevant classroom posters, organizational tools, and project supplies.
Within the district we cater to students in PK-12th grade. The teacher to students ratio is higher than the average school districts in our state, with a 25:1 average and over 44% of students receive free and reduced lunch. While the city is based off of blue-collar jobs, many residents are low-income or retired. Given the opportunity for the donation, my students will have the classroom supplies and materials that they may not be able to afford to purchase themselves.
My Project
To learn, students need to be in a warm, welcoming environment with supplies that will foster their learning. The posters I chose will help with teaching math, social studies, and daily calendar skills. The supplies I picked will assist with organization and decoration throughout the classroom. Given the opportunity to receive these items, I am hoping to make my first year teaching 5th grade a wonderful experience. I intend to make my classroom bright and cheery, and allow easy access to learn all subjects throughout the day. These supplies will be used not only this year, but in other years to come!
