Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Basic supplies help to keep our classroom running. We have a newly adopted Language Arts program at our school. Every day, the children are introduced and re-introduced to tricky words, high frequency words, and new vocabulary. I have been printing these words on my cardstock at home with colored ink so that my children will have a true sense of the meaning of these words. Color adds so much detail and helps my children to learn. Cardstock allows the words on the word wall to be used and removed and reattached to the wall repeatedly so the children can bring the words to their desks to copy.

Cardstock and colored ink will fill our word wall with detailed vocabulary to help my students learn to read and write, while erasers and pencil sharpeners will help them when they make corrections.

The punch cards are used to reward the children when they take risks and read in front of the class or small groups. When they share their ideas and stories, they are proud of themselves. I want to encourage them to continue to read and share with others. I want them to know that I recognize their efforts and I am proud of them, too.

I have some students who need help with their beginning words. The set of 10 workbooks will help me with providing these children with their own consumable workbooks.
