My Students

The students at my school are tomorrow's engineers! Our school is focused on the STEM Model and students experience an integrated STEM-based approach to learning in all subjects each quarter. Our students know that they are preparing for futuristic skills in jobs that do not even exist yet. In 4th-grade students switch classes for ELA, Math, and Science/SS. They also have an RTI elective period where they get to choose a topic of interest while students receive individualized intervention as needed.

The students who come to my class begin the year thinking they are just fulfilling their math needs for the 4th grade but in reality they are learning to problem solve, engineer, create, explore, and justify their thinking.

My students walk out excited and confident with their ability to attack any problem!

My Project

Thankfully our students are in person and thriving. In-person learning right now offers new challenges and hurdles that we had not previously had as teachers. Our students are spending more time on a screen. This is becoming challenging on the eyes. The large computer monitor allows me to better facilitate instruction in person or remotely. The light filters allow my students time to relax their eyes in the heavy screen environment. A multi-plug allows me the ability to create a charging station that students can use to charge their Chromebooks throughout the day. The other classroom supplies are needed to continue regular instruction. I have found I am doing more whole group instruction as I cannot do as much small group. This is why I am requesting the extra erasers and whiteboard tools. I like to offer building items like Legos to my students. The addition of base plates will allow my students to utilize these items from their desks in a productive way. I also need to be able to create packets and binder work from my classroom to avoid going to the office. The 3 hole punch allows me to produce these items more safely.
