FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Otano's classroom raised $553

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
It is my goal for my students, many of which are students with diverse special needs, to develop financial literacy skills. After discussing the importance of earning, investing, and saving, our kiddos will have the opportunity to earn classroom money for things such as performing their class jobs, attending school on a daily basis, doing their homework, performing acts of kindness, and going above and beyond while meeting academic expectations. They will have access to the classroom online bank and will be given time to deposit and withdraw play money earned from their accounts. We will then establish a classroom store stocked and supplied with the requested snacks, treats, and existing school supplies, requested pens and colored paper. Every week, the students will take turns running the classroom store while their classmates shop with the money they have earned. The students will use the money saved to purchase/invest in items such as existing basic supplies and requested snacks and treats. The students will build their knowledge of financial literacy and strengthen their math skills by using online bank accounts. They will print out account information and create a journal with financial data using the requested ink.
