My students are very inquisitive, motivated, and excited to learn. A high percentage of the students at my school are English language learners and diverse learners. They learn new science concepts best through project-based learning. In science, we focus on hands-on/inquiry-based learning. We create scientific models, carry out experiments, and design our own experiments. Our school is located in the city of Chicago. Over ninety-five percent of our students come from low-income households and over thirty different languages are spoken at our school.
My Project
Many students in my classroom do not come to school with the necessary school supplies. The school supply list is long and can be expensive! Their families struggle to provide them with basic school supply needs. Most students come in with what they can afford, but it doesn't come close to what is actually needed. Not having the basic materials necessary can be a huge obstacle in the classroom. These school supplies will make our classroom run much smoother! We won't have to waste time sharing glue sticks and scissors! I won't have to worry about running out of tissue or pencils. These basic needs are not things I want my students to worry about!
