My students need basic classroom staples including red pens, folders, notepads and trash bags, and a microwave.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Though in the most restricted environment in NYC education, I am determined to send every one of my students to a general education setting for high school next year.
My students come from the most neglected and disenfranchised neighborhoods of New York City.
School is a welcome imposition of love, caring and structure for my students. My students enter my classroom feeling safe and secure and certain that they are in good hands.
My Project
My students will use garbage bags to clean our room. Red pens will be used to correct their own work in peer review sessions. Folders will be used for students to store their work and receive forms for home. A microwave will be used to boil water for science experiments. Notepads will be used for students to create self-editing and peer-editing checklists.
Donations to this project will provide basic classroom staples for some of New York City's most disenfranchised youth.
Though banal and simple, these items are needed in our classroom. These items will allow our students to store their work, engage in peer review, boil water for science experiments and write on notepads.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
