This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
About My Students
Our class needs a printer, a basic staple of the middle school classroom. This need is even more desperate as our students have an array of learning disabilities, from specific learning disabilities such as dyslexia and discalculalia, to emotional disorders and autism spectrum disorder needs.
Our students want a printer! After being in classrooms with printers that allow for shared access to readings and curriculum resources, the students in my classroom want the same. A classroom printer is a basic necessity in any middle school or high school.
Without a printer we have no access to our curriculum worksheets, shared readings, math resources, graphic organizers, journal prompts, learning aids, graph paper, etc. Students with disabilities need as many learning resources as possible in order to be able to learn.
In Their Own Words
We just want a printer. With a printer we can do lots of things and actually get the learning we need. Can you help us? -Angel
A printer will help us accomplish our goals. We have reading, math and behavior goals that we can reach! - Jose
I will help by making some suggestions for genres that we want to learn. I think we can all do this. Then our teacher will print out what we will do and it will be closer to what we WANT to do! -Angel
This is going to allow us to have the same worksheets and papers that other classes have. It also allows us to get work to do that WE want. Can you help us please? We appreciate it all. - Darnelle
