This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Classroom sketchbooks will keep ideas, information, and new knowledge all in one spot! My goal is for each student, grade 3-5, to have their own sketchbook to brainstorm, let emotions out, and take down information in.
My art room will be the home of the sketchbooks; students will use them during class.
I would love to start using sketchbooks during art lessons. For example, students can have a more hands on approach to learning about the color wheel. With their sketchbook, they will be able to draw the color wheel while learning about it, and take note of things such as cool colors and warm colors.
Ideally, these sketchbooks, which will be used only in art class, will last from 3rd to 5th grade. 5th grade students will leave elementary school with a collection of their work from the past three years as a bound portfolio.
