Classroom Set of Rechargeable Graphing Calculators With Python

Help me give my students the tools needed to expand their mathematical and programming horizons. While the TI-83 plus may have been preferred, the TI-84 CE has ability for students to learn python programming on the device.

My Project

What I love most about my students is their determination, curiosity, and willingness to grow even when math feels intimidating. They bring unique perspectives to the classroom and are eager to understand how to solve problems and why the solutions work. It’s a joy to watch them build confidence and connect abstract concepts to real-world applications.

This tool helps students visualize complex mathematical concepts, transformations, functions, and systems of equations making the abstract more accessible. It encourages exploration and hands-on learning, allowing students to manipulate variables and see immediate results. This kind of interactivity deepens their understanding and makes learning math more engaging.

The TI-84 Plus CE with Python has all the built in programming capabilities of TI graphing calculators, but takes it a step further. In addition to its powerful graphing capabilities, the TI-84 Plus CE also supports Python programming, opening up even more opportunities for students to develop problem-solving and coding skills. Learning Python on a calculator gives students an approachable introduction to coding in a math-rich environment. They can write simple scripts to model real-world scenarios, automate calculations, or create their own math tools like quadratic solver. It fosters logical thinking and creativity, while reinforcing key math concepts.

Using the TI-84 Plus CE in class helps prepare students for STEAM coursework, careers in trades, and careers that demand both analytical and technological fluency. A classroom set levels the playing field by giving all students access to the same high-quality tools ensuring equity in learning opportunities even when students are unable to afford this level of technology. With the right resources in their hands, my students gain not only skills, but the confidence to imagine themselves as future engineers, data analysts, scientists, and more.
