Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my students come from homes where English is not the primary language that is spoken. Therefore, they are still learning academic vocabulary. This can be a challenge in science class.

Please help me support my students' academic vocabulary development by providing them with a variety of books to enhance our science curriculum.

Students will learn about science topics such as ecosystems, human body systems, earth changes, and electricity. We do many hands-on activities in science class. We also discuss and write about science. These books will help them learn and use this language because they will be reading it in a variety of different contexts. They will be seeing the academic vocabulary during independent reading time as well as during science.
