This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One of my favorite parts of the school day is when I get to see all of my students sitting together on the classroom rug. The very first thing we learn on the first day of each school year are the expectations for sitting on the rug because to me, coming together as a community is where we do our best learning. The classroom rug that we currently have has seen a lot of love. It has traveled through multiple classrooms and has finally landed in kindergarten.

While the rug we have is a great place to gather, it is not big enough for all of our students to comfortably sit with one another and be engaged in their learning.

With your help, we could get a beautiful, new classroom rug to roll out for our kindergarteners so that they can see we put value into their whole group time.

Our students are in a Title 1 school and are all community children. They work so hard throughout the year to build up a sense of stability and home within our classroom walls, so I feel like they deserve to have a beautiful classroom floor within those walls to meet together.
