Help me give my students a classroom rug that will create a welcoming and functional space for whole-group lessons and flexible seating opportunities!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
As an educator, my goals are to help students feel successful both in and outside of the classroom and to foster their love for learning. To ensure my First Graders are capable of reaching their full potentials, I work to meet each child’s academic, social, and emotional needs in the classroom.
I teach students of various races, ethnicities, abilities, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Majority of my first grade students face inequality in their communities, and at least five of them have been affected by trauma. While working with this diverse group of learners, I have developed an understanding of how both personal and social experiences impact student achievement. As their teacher, I dedicate my efforts toward granting these students an equal opportunity to receive a quality education in a safe and comfortable learning environment.
In order to accommodate my students’ individual learning styles while promoting a positive classroom culture, I try to make learning a hands-on, interactive experience. I am working to build a collection of materials and technology so that my students can become independent thinkers and problem solvers! Thank you for helping my students and me achieve this goal!
My students need a learning environment that makes them feel welcome, comfortable, and safe.
We need a rug as our designated space for morning meetings, read-alouds, independent reading time, group work, and whole-group lessons.
This cozy, blue rug will provide us with a sense of calm and comfort as we take a break from sitting at our cold, hard desks. As a colorful focal point of the classroom, it is my hope that my students will view any opportunity to sit on the rug as fun learning experience. We will use the rug as a relaxing space to think, collaborate, play, laugh, grow, and learn!
