More than a third of students from low‑income households

My students need a new rug, writing center and calendar program to start off the new school year.
My classroom floor is made up of tile and it can be cold to sit on during the long winter months. We are asking for a new rug that has a map of the U.S. to use during our whole group instruction. We are also asking for software to help us with our morning routine and a writing center.
My students are between the ages of 5 and 6 and very eager to learn.
They come in knowing a few words and leave reading books of all levels. We live in a small town with over half of our students qualifying for free or reduced lunch. Our school is a small K-12 school with only 262 students in the entire school.
Imagine a first grader, walking into a classroom with a brightly covered rug that is warm and inviting to sit on, placed in front of the classroom. This same rug being used to read new literature to students excited to sit next to their new friends. They will also learn about calendar math on their interactive board on that same classroom rug. And lastly, having the opportunity to have a place away from their normal seat to practice their letters, sentences, or stories at their new writing center.
This donation is so important to our classroom with school funding becoming less and less.
We are forced to find other ways to enhance our classroom. Donorschoose is an excellent way for teachers to get the help from amazing donors like yourself. Please consider my classroom when looking for a project. We will forever be grateful!
