My Project

This upcoming school year, 2024-2025, will be my first year teaching! I will be teaching first grade at a school located in a small, rural community. As a first year teacher, I am in need of many resources to make my classroom a safe, comfortable place for my future students to learn and grow. One of those things is a carpet where we can all gather!

My goal is to create an environment where my students feel safe and comfortable to learn and grow with their peers and adults.

My future students will have a wide variety of strengths and assets! I would like to provide children with as many opportunities as possible to interact with one another so that they may be able to learn from peers, as well as from me. Every day my students say in their daily pledge "I will try hard so my brain can grow!" Growth is something that is really important to me, and I believe children can achieve this from my instruction as well as from interaction with their peers.

I am a first year teacher teaching 1st grade. My hope is that my classroom will be an environment that is calm, safe, welcoming, warm, and nurturing for any learner that comes through my door. The carpet is a place that will provide us with space to gather as a whole class.

Children will have morning meetings here, where we will build community every day. Also, children will gather here for lessons daily. First grade is such an important year, as children learn many foundational skills that they will carry with them for the rest of their schooling. I want to do my part to set them up for success!
