I am a high school special education teacher specifying in working with students with low levels, learning disabilities, and behavioral needs. These students are most often students that are under-recognized for their needs and supports required to succeed. These kids are amazing students who work harder than any other kids to succeed. Our goal in working with these students is to best support them in their general education classes so that they have the skills required to achieve independence in the real world, after high school.
My students are amazing kids but need the opportunity and support to show their full potential.
I have seen my students go from non-attending, failing majority of classes, to full attending, passing, and pushing themselves towards graduation. I pride myself on the relationship I have fostered with each individual student to create a want for them to be in my classroom. These students have bright futures and know what they are wanting to do and how they want to contribute to society after graduation.
My Project
My students are high school students with mild/moderate needs in school. Many are diagnosed with attention disorders that impair their ability to attend/succeed in their general education curriculum. My classroom is set up to support the needs of these students, emotionally and educationally.
