My Project

My 7th-grade classroom is more than just a place to learn—it’s a community. Every day, my students walk in carrying curiosity, humor, resilience, and a wide range of experiences that shape who they are as learners. What I love most about them is their willingness to grow.

Right now, one of my biggest challenges is maintaining an organized and accessible classroom library.

Books are a huge part of how my students build independence, empathy, and confidence as readers, but next year I will be short on space to store them in a way that invites students to actually use them. A storage bench will not only help me keep my books organized, but it will also create a welcoming reading area where students can sit, explore, and feel comfortable choosing books that interest them. It turns storage into an opportunity for connection with reading.

In addition, I’ve included snacks because many of my students come to school hungry or need an extra boost to stay focused throughout the day. A small snack can make a big difference—it helps students stay engaged, regulate their energy, and fully participate in learning. When basic needs are met, students are better able to think critically, collaborate, and take academic risks.

Finally, the “Better Than Paper” materials will help transform my classroom into a space that feels warm, creative, and student-centered. When students feel a sense of belonging in their environment, they are more motivated and invested in their learning.

Each of these resources supports not just academic success, but the whole child. With your help, I can create a space where my students feel organized, nourished, and inspired every single day.
