They are eager to learn and very motivated with goals that we set to better their academic and social skills. Each day I strive to create lessons that are effective, fun, and interesting for my very diverse students. The kids are passionate and very much willing to learn, given all the support and needs.

What happens when you make a classroom feel more like home?
Studies show that when students are comfortable, it helps them feel at home in their classroom, which in turn helps them learn.
Quotes form the study included:
“I feel relaxed. When I’m relaxed, I’m more ready to learn.”
“It’s like a little living room when the plants are here.”
“Up here [in the reading loft] makes me learn because I read and it’s comfortable reading here.”
I remember from my own personal experience that when it was time for me to clean and wrap up my classroom for the end of the school year, several of my students told me that they missed my colorful and lively classroom. He added that my room always makes him feel happy and comfortable. It feels like home.
As a Title I school and teaching kids with variety of needs, I always make the extra effort to support my students the best possible way I can. I believe that by doing my part to make my classroom more welcoming that even the smallest of changes can make a big difference in classroom environments. The homey decor will reflect the living room effect that will help students feel relaxed and so be the best that they can in my room classroom. Students identified that “comfort” as “most necessary” in the classroom.
