My goal with this project is to create a classroom that is safe, calm, and comfortable for my students to learn in. I want my young students to have their individual needs met. Many of my students would benefit from having a choice of fidgets to help them concentrate throughout the day. The whisper phones will also provide support to my struggling readers and support our overall reading fluency without increasing our classroom noise level.
I also want to build our classroom community.
I hope to help students strengthen their relationships with each other as we meet for morning meeting each day at the new rug. The conversation chips will help students build the skills they need to effectively communicate and have connections with others. With this rug we will also be able to have a place where students can learn in a closer setting. My students have also loved learning some American Sign Language this year and I hope to continue this by using the ASL flashcards.
