This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are curious and artistic! I teach students who are learning English as a second, third and even fourth language! This means we need lots of sharp pencils and colored pencils to do our work. It also means we need structured brain breaks to play and socialize, which helps build language!

We do lessons together, gathered on our special circle carpet with notebooks and pencils ready, sitting or laying on pillows and cushions for extra comfort.

We chart on big paper and students co-construct the learning to copy in their own notebooks to reference throughout the year.

The pencil sharpener will make our gathering and work time transitions easier and more efficient to maximize learning!

The pillow covers and memory foam filling will give our older pillows a new life!

The tic-tac-toe and chess will promote structured brain breaks to help students get to know one another in a positive way!
