My Students
A typical day in our classroom consists of teamwork, meaningful discussions, students encouraging each other, and the teacher listening and helping her students only if they need it. I truly believe that I am there as a facilitator, to guide students in the right direction with their thinking. Walking into my classroom, you would see 19 eager students, who come to school every day, excited to learn.
They are hardworking, kind, compassionate, and love working together to learn as much as they can.
They come from many different backgrounds and are all at different academic levels. I have many students who are performing above the grade level expectations and need to be challenged every day. I have some students that need a lot of hands-on practice to understand the curriculum but work so hard to understand it. They all want to do well and always put in their best effort, which is the best I could ever ask for, out of a group of kids. They are so special to me.
My Project
Our favorite part of the day is when we get together and have our Morning Meeting. This is our way of greeting each other, sharing about our lives, reflecting on important topics, and most importantly, developing our positive communication skills. I have a few students in my class that are very quiet and shy. I try every day to get them out of their shell but it's hard when they're surrounded by other students who aren't afraid of using their voice! I was able to use this Qball at a training recently and I immediately thought of how great of a tool this would be to help those shy students to have their voices heard! It's also a really fun way for them to communicate because they can pass the mic to someone else so that the next person can share. This Qball will continue to keep ALL kids engaged in our morning meetings as well as our lessons! I can't wait for them to use it!
