Classroom Plants for Future Stewards of Our Planet
Help me give my students a welcoming classroom atmosphere. I am an Earth science teacher working in an urban public school. I hope to foster in my students a sense of stewardship for our planet!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work in a small public school in New York City and I teach Earth Science to 10th and 11th graders. Our students have limited opportunities to immerse themselves in the natural world and often feel a sense of disconnect with issues surrounding sustainability and the environmental well-being of our planet. I come from a geology background and am always excited to show my students my rock and mineral collections. I am creating this project to request support in procuring plants for my classroom as well.
I hope to add some indoor plants to my (and my colleagues') classroom, and through immersion and responsible stewardship, foster in my students a sense of love for the environment.
I plan to have student monitors water and tend to the plants; I believe that a shared sense of duty will foster a collaborative learning environment for all my students! Thank you so very much!
