My Project

As a science teacher, one of things I like to provide for my students is hands-on experiences with real living creatures. My classroom pets consistent of Cosmo the bunny and two axolotls named Craig and Brandon. My students adore these pets and learn from observing and caring for them. Having pets in the classroom helps cultivate a culture of caring and nurturing. Even my most shy students come alive when they get the opportunity to interact with these amazing creatures. Cosmo (the bunny) needs some enrichment toys and treats. These both provide ways for my students to interact with him. He also needs a new litter box. On the list is enough hay, pellets, and bedding to last the year. The axolotls, Craig and Brandon, are very unique and students love watching them swim and feeding them worms. The aquarium they live in requires a lot of water quality maintenance, so the water test kit, water conditioner, and ammonia will allow us to cycle their tank to create a safe, clean environment. The filters will maintain the clean water. The axolotl tank also needs new sand and a cool system since they need cold water and our building doesn't have air conditioning. The cost of caring for these creatures can be expensive and at times overwhelming. In the past, I have footed the bill myself, but I would greatly appreciate donations to help support these creatures and therefore my students.
