Because of your generosity, 3 classes of World Geography students (almost 90 students total!) were able to work in pairs to build a world landmark of their choice represented in Lego. Big Ben (with a clock face), an Easter Island statue, and the Golden Gate Bridge (built by a 9th/11th grade sister pair) were some of my favorites. We had teacher judges (several of whom are now interested in working with the Lego), small prizes, and lots of fun. Students had a great time taking a closer look at the architecture and figuring out on the fly how to use window/door and other pieces creatively to build a representation of their chosen landmark. \r\n\r\nI am looking forward to hosting our MT History-themed build in the spring, and also more free-building with students, as several classes and teachers have expressed interest. The library is purchasing some storage drawers to house our new collection, and also adding a few sets of flat tiles at the request of some art students.\r\n\r\nThank you for your contributions to this project, and for supporting hands-on learning with building bricks in the library.","fullyFundedDate":1731526014768,"projectUrl":"project/montana-history-comes-alive-with-lego/8931489/","projectTitle":"Montana History Comes Alive with LEGO!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dupre","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1855269_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731360955854","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/dupremt"},{"teacherId":9748391,"projectId":8779040,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting A Sensory System to the Rescue. My materials were part of a larger team-based effort from the occupational and physical therapist, and myself, a speech language pathologist, to rejuvinate a high school sensory room for students with a high level of support needs. We fully equipped our sensory room with both calming and alerting activities. \r\n\r\nOur students were able to use some of the calming tools right away in the sensory room, such as the noise-canceling headphones and fidgets. Another calming tool is a giant magnetic whiteboard that houses letter and word magnatiles. Moving the icons or letters into a sequence or into groups is a predictable, calming brain-based activity for students that integrates whole body movement and literacy and vocabulary development. The pair of razor scooters were used immediately to provide fun and motivating gross motor movement breaks around the school building for students and for staff accompanying students. \r\n\r\nWe would not have been able to fund our sensory room without your kind support.","fullyFundedDate":1726426407708,"projectUrl":"project/a-sensory-system-to-the-rescue/8779040/","projectTitle":"A Sensory System to the Rescue!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Vetter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9748391"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_48421","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1224,"numTeachers":69,"percentFrplEligible":46,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":84,"percentIndigenous":6,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"17.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":56.9,"schoolId":48421,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Big Sky High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Big Sky High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/montana/missoula-county-public-school-district-1/big-sky-high-school/48421"}
