My students come from a predominately low-income area in the eastern part of North Carolina. My students are very innovative and love to be creative in the classroom. The students love to tell me about their weekends, and I also love to see them outside of school at extracurricular activities or in town. My students are very goal-oriented and I think with the right equipment in the class, we will be able to create a classroom environment that will be great for learning the rest of the school year.
Last year my students had a very rough start to the school year, so this year I would like to create the most stable environment possible at school.
The students are very excited to learn, and I want to be able to provide innovative materials in the classroom to help achieve this. I am very happy to begin a new journey in a new grade level with a different curriculum.
My Project
My middle school students are very inquisitive. They like to ask questions in the middle of class, and I would like to be able to "on the fly" answer their questions by asking our classroom pet, Alexa. I believe that this would create more cohesive classroom discussions because we would have a resource we could easily ask our content-related questions to. I believe that my tech-savvy kids would enjoy being able to say "Hey Alexa what is.....?"
I would also like to be able to have student copies of our textbook for students to reference throughout class if they would like to.
We are a 1:1 school for iPads, but I believe that there is nothing like cracking open a real book, not a digital one.
