it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am requesting many zipper bags to organize items in our classroom! Using these zipper bags will be both more kid friendly and more environmentally friendly. With these bags coming in different colors, I will be able to color code each level of book. This will make it easy for children to locate the appropriate book set at their level!
Students will also use these bags for their personal books!
Every day, children spend 45 minutes reading independently. This includes reading by themselves at their chairs, reading with a partner, and reading with the teacher! At all of these different "stations," children are asked to read a book at their individualized level. Children often times misplace their assigned book, but with these zipper bags we will be able to keep them organized. Each of my 25 students have a personalized "book box" full of books that they can read and high-interest picture books that they cannot yet read the words. These materials will be used daily in my classroom with all students and adults.
Having an adequate number of bags will allow each student to have their own bag and keep their age-appropriate books in a safe, personalized place. We will use the bags for uses beyond books as well. For example, they are great for organizing art supplies, toys, etc. Again, having these transparent, color coded bags will be an organization system that every child can use! The last use for these bags will be to send home various learning materials with students. Having a streamlined process will allow me to send items home to families so that students can continue learning at home!
