This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In many urban communities, students are not supplied with the same tools and materials found in more affluent areas. My students are growing to be lifelong learners, and they are in need of resources to help them develop and strengthen their understanding of current events.
My sixth graders are bright, loving, and most importantly - unstoppable in their quest to be successful.
Their families support the students, the teacher, and the school. The parents are confident in my abilities as a teacher and with these new relationships and community connections. I enter my room more prepared and driven to provide my students with the supplies which they need.
My Project
As we continue to face this global pandemic, I want to ensure student safety and well being above all else. These magazine file folders will provide a specific space for students to house choice books for reading. They can be easily spread out around the classroom perimeter to adhere to social distancing guidelines. The standing desk will support our tripod and second screen for when live broadcasting of classes need to occur.
These items will contribute to an organized and safe classroom environment where students can confidently come to school and be with teachers and peers.
It is in this space that I strive to reach my students - both academically and most importantly, emotionally. Please support me in this project as my class and I begin a new year in a new classroom.
