My Students

My students are fourth graders. They live in an urban area. They are avid learners and especially love to read in French and in English. Because I teach in a bilingual program, half my students come from Francophone families, and the other half comes from Anglophone families. They cooperate and support each other in learning how to read, write, and express themselves in two languages. By the end of elementary school, they will all be bilingual and bi-literate in French and in English.

My Project

Students will use this filing cabinet across the school year to keep and organize the pieces of work they are the most proud of. This will allow them to easily access past work samples to compare it to current work and see how much progress they have done! This will also make parent/teacher/student conferences more efficient, by having students be able to find their work to show it to their parents.

Having a new filing cabinet will raise the level of student independence in my classroom, by allowing students to easily access their work to reflect on it.

At my school, we believe in students self-assessing and setting up goals for themselves.
