My Students
I am going to be a first-year teacher this upcoming school year, and I am looking to provide resources for my group of fourth-graders, who have a wide range of abilities and needs. The school I work for hired me for a new fourth grade position due to the third grade class being so large. My classroom was previously a Title I room and does not currently have many materials that I can utilize, and my personal collection of resources is quite small because I am a first-year teacher fresh out of college.
I've heard that this group of students is very hard-working, and I want to ensure that they have a successful fourth-grade year by supporting them in all of their educational needs.
Some of the ways I am hoping to do this is through the use of flexible seating options, a range of books that represent my students' differentiated reading levels, and materials to aid student learning and organization. I am very excited to begin this first year of teaching, and I would love to start it off feeling confident that I have everything my students may need. Thank you for your consideration and support!
My Project
I will be able to use these organizational tools and materials to set up my classroom in a way that supports flexible seating options as well as students' individual choices and needs. Many of the classroom organizational tools will be incorporated to allow students to engage in choice seating while also having designated spaces to put their personal materials in the classroom. The cushions, stools, and lap desks will be used to create spaces within the classroom where students can choose where to sit based on how/where they feel they work best. A variety of books and manipulatives will be used to support student engagement by tailoring the learning to fit individual student needs.
