This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The items I am requesting are to help me within the classroom environment. I have been using the same broken chair for the past eight years at my table to conduct small group instruction with my students. The same goes with the my white board stand where it is cracked at certain parts and it is covered in the corner with dry material that is impossible to get off. I never made these items a priority because I always made sure that my students' basic needs in the environment were met first. But now, the items I currently have are starting to impact the learning process to the point where I have to use a student's chair to where I am lower than the groups' eyesight and use a small handheld white board for my groups.

The goal for this project is for myself to be able to have the proper tools as a teacher to use for helping conduct my small group instruction for my students.

My students are in a self-contained Autistic Support classroom. In my classroom, we conduct small group instruction to be able to target the IEP goals set forth for each of the students. My students will come to my table, based on their group levels, to receive their direct instruction daily. If their teacher does not have the proper tools, then holding small groups can become difficult and hard for the students in the end as I have to make adjustments on my end by sitting in a student's chair or using a small white board to deliver the instruction.
