Classroom Novel Studies

Help me give my students engaging novels to help build their reading comprehension.

This project expired on December 17, 2022.

My Project

I love teaching reading using chapter books. This year I am incorporating novel study as our primary reading source, and by doing so I plan to expand the selection of books we will use. I want to make sure each child has a copy of the books I am requesting for their own use. My own experiences in reading chapter books in elementary school sparked my love of reading, and I want my students to have the same experience. Reading chapter books such as, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Ramona the Pest" will enable them to use their imagination, build empathy, spark their creativity, and help build their vocabulary. As they read they will also develop reading fluency skills and build reading stamina. They will become engaged in what they're reading.

Chapter books unleash your imagination and creativity and connect us to the world around us in ways we haven't explored.

I plan on the students using the chapter books in whole class and small group instruction, giving them the opportunity to dive deep into the story, characters, and plot while relating them to the world.
