My Students

My students have a high interest for learning and desire for succeeding. Students at my school come from a high poverty level, which results in a high percentage of free and reduced lunch. Our school is also a personalized learning school; the idea of personalized learning is that ultimately each student moves forward at their own pace and at their own style so they can work on their strengths, but also work on their weaknesses. Personalized learning also involves using technology to teach students.

Learning is our passion, but for my students with Autism, this can be difficult without additional materials and supports.

We have no budget to buy classroom materials and often as educators, we have to buy supplies ourselves. In order for my students to reach their full potential, we want to make sure to personalize our classroom to meet all students' needs.

My Project

Children with Autism struggle to focus on tasks, especially in a noisy environment. My students are in need of headphones to utilize computer applications and programs free from distraction of other peers. My students with Autism are also very sensory oriented and sensory driven. Providing fidgets that are readily available is a simple way to help increase their attention in class.

I want to help set my students up for success.

With this project, we will be able to provide a sensory rich and distraction reduced environment for each of the students. This will help support them and future students in their academic careers.
