Classroom Materials Needed for Well Deserved Students
Help me give my students basic classroom materials that will assist them with having the resources to be successful in completing assignments, projects, and assessments.

My Students
I am an ESE (Special Education)/Reading teacher at a K-8 center in Miami. I teach and support students that have learning difficulties and/or disabilities in all subject areas and grade levels in our K-8 school. My school is a Title I school which means that about 99% of the students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch due to their low socioeconomic status. The school is in a high poverty neighborhood so many of my students come from families who struggle financially. As a result, my students endure more problems than average children, and these problems interfere with and hinder their learning.
My Project
My students do not ask for much and they have learned to work with the supplies that we are afforded. Many times my students may have to take turns using the supplies that we have or wait another day to get their chance at working with some of the newer materials. I would like to step it up a few notches and give them the opportunity to be successful with classroom materials that are needed and can enhance many activities during group assignments and also during independent work. The classroom materials will ease the headaches and pain of having to purchase or improvise during projects, assignments, and assessments.
My students struggle to keep up with the general population but with the classroom materials, they will be able to do more hands-on activities that will help them be successful.
Markers, crayons, index cards, ink, labels, and pens (to name a few) are items that many students take for granted but when the supplies are limited the importance of the supplies becomes evident. My students will most definitely be more successful with supplies that they can use but are out of their reach because of financial strains.
