My Students
I am the lucky teacher of 45 incredible 2nd graders, who I will continue to teach as their 3rd grade teacher next year! I teach ELA (Reading and Writing) at a public school in the community of Englewood, on the South Side of Chicago. The school currently serves 410 students grades K-8. 100% of the students live in the surrounding Englewood community.
My 2nd grade, soon to be 3rd grade, students are bright, curious, and incredibly hard working.
I am committed to providing every single one of my 3rd graders with the tools and skills they need to succeed in reading and writing- and to become college bound and ready.
My Project
This project gives my classroom all the materials students will need to be successful readers and writers this school year. As many know, I will be keeping my classroom and students, but making the transition to 3rd grade from 2nd grade with them.
This is a game changing, make or break, year for my students.
We need to be as well-equipped as we can. We will be working so hard in my classroom, and I want my students to engage at the fullest.
My students need notebooks for morning and afternoon journaling and writing projects. My students need folders that will not fall apart for small groups and to store their work in progress, like book reports. My students need headphones for their online learning. My students do not need to be worried about having enough pencils, or if their materials will fall apart, this year. They need to be learning.
