This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The use of pocket charts in our classroom is an all-day, everyday event. This is evident as they move from calendar meetings where math skills are introduced and reinforced, to using them in math, ELA, social studies, science, and writing for standard-based focus displays for academic learning. It’s an all the time occurrence in our classroom! My students know how to use these resources to help themselves learn.
By donating to our project, you will help update our very dated resources in our classroom to help enrich my students' social, emotional, and mental well-being, and to further accelerate their learning and development.
These new materials will help my students focus on the academic resources that will help them as they work on tasks. I would like to replace the old and dated pocket charts and posters in my class to create a more cohesive color scheme that will help showcase academic language and make it really stand out. Sometimes a classroom can become overstimulating and this can actually be distracting to students, therefore making a few changes such as the color schemes can really make a difference in students learning. Other materials requested, such as the Match & Sort Language Quickies, will be for literacy intervention resources for my students. These materials will help my students who need remedial support via highly engaging and appealing resources. They will look forward to working on improving their skills.
Students will be able to focus on what they need to accomplish and not be overwhelmed by things they can’t control. My students are wonderful and they truly enjoy showing what they know. I love their willingness to seek their own learning and individual success.
