My Students

I have so many wonderful learners and individuals, all of whom will benefit from an increase in literacy. My students range from English 1 freshmen to Senior Creative Writing students. Some are very behind in reading and writing and some are very interested and advanced. They are all from this small area in the hill country and are respectful young men and women. My goal is to improve their lives and learning. They are great kids who deserve the best resources and learning opportunities.

My Project

My goal is to improve literacy in my classroom. I teach in a district with a variety of needs but I am lacking in resources, meaning I have very few books. Therefore, I am unable to teach books or novels as I do not have enough supplies to send these home with students. It is my goal to improve literacy and reading skills in my school. Therefore, I am asking for book donations. I need books that students would like to read as well as large sets of classics such as To Kill a Mockingbird, Glass Castle, Of Mice and Men, etc. These books will both generate student interest in reading and will provide me the platform to teach a variety of titles and genres to increase literacy in my school. This will better prepare students by not only improving their literacy but increasing their communication and problem solving skills. I would accept any donations offered.
