Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students in fourth grade are eager for a classroom library. They are ready to have a comfortable space to read a variety of books right here in our classroom. Firstly, we also need more books that are at different levels and interests for my unique and varied students, so I chose selections I know they love as well as some diverse books to fill in some gaps in our current book selection. Also, the classroom needs a rug that will create a more comfortable space for my students to sit and read, given that all we currently have is the tile floor at our school.
By donating to our project, my students are going to be able to visit a classroom library where they are welcomed by a pleasant space; one that also has books at their respective levels and interests.
This will be new for my students, who are used to classrooms with little to no books besides the textbooks distributed by our district. Creating this space will increase my students' interest in reading, and in turn, their overall reading skills.
