Help me give my students a library they can use to read and encourage a love of literature. These leveled books will help my students as they develop their literacy.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a Special education teacher in a low-income neighborhood, I see many students who struggle with literacy and often are hesitant or have negative emotions toward reading. Many students do not have access to books at home either. I would love to give them a leveled reader library so they can feel comfortable choosing a book to read that they can understand independently. I love to give my students some time at the end of each class to independently read, but many of the books I have access to are above their levels and my district is unable to provide additional resources. My goal is to have a library with choices appropriate for all readers and help my students as they develop their literacy.
