I am a first year teacher starting this fall! In May of 2020 I graduated from Calvin University with a double major in special education and elementary education. Over the winter I worked as a substitute and got to know a lot of the students who will be in the first grade class for this upcoming year at my school. They are all very compassionate and energetic little humans, and I can’t wait to help them succeed. My students are the reason I love my job, every morning that I wake up I have an itch to get back into the classroom. It has been so long since i’ve seen all my students, so this year I want to make my classroom a place where they can blossom. For that to happen I will need a little bit of support! My goal for this school year is to make sure that getting back into the schedule of physically going to school is as fun and exciting as possible. Not only am I craving to be back in the classroom, I am sure my students cannot wait!
My Project
I really think that a great classroom starts with a great classroom library. If I am able to have a intriguing and exciting library full of good books then it will be easy for my students to find the passion they need to become a great reader. Some of my favorite classrooms have walls and walls of books within them, and I think that a good library is the base for any elementary room.
