Hello!!!! I teach in a rural community that is less than one hour outside of New Orleans. Our students have been through a lot this year. Many have family members living with them because of the recent hurricane. We also have many displaced students and are expecting more since 400 FEMA trailers are in the process of being placed in our community. Moreover, 65% of our students are at the poverty level, and we have no school library! Because of this I am asking for books that my students would enjoy reading. Through reading my students can go anywhere and be anyone. Reading will help them cope with all the emotions they have been experiencing this year because many of our displaced students have lost everything: their home, community, and friends.
