Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low socioeconomic area, my students are faced with an uphill battle every day. My students come from adversity, but that does not discourage them from coming to school every day ready to learn. They have such beautiful spirits and deserve the best quality instruction that I can offer them.

My students have a thirst for knowledge.

They sit on the edges of their seats waiting for me to teach them. My students are inspiring, thoughtful, and driven.

My Project

My students need a classroom library. These books will do wonders for my students' reading development. I chose books that would peak their interests and encourage them to read outside of school. These books will help my students develop their literacy skills without them realizing it.

Research shows that there is a strong correlation between reading independently and high academic achievement.

My students are faced with several challenges already, and I want to do everything I can to increase their achievement and close the gap.

I chose books at varying reading levels so I could meet each of my students' academic levels and books that increase in difficulty to help build them up and prepare them for fifth grade next year.
