Classroom Library!

My students need multi-level reading books and a comfortable place to sit on the floor and read as well as gather for class lessons.

My Students

My students range from BR to M.S. Level readers. It is frustrating to see my students head to the library to pick a book and find their choices severely limited as well as no comfy place to settle down into and be able to engage in whatever book they have settled on.(see main pic of library)

I have some of the best students around.

Despite our limited resources, they never complain. The few times I have been able to buy out-of-pocket books, such as the recent Disney's Descendants, they are so excited and grateful. I want to see that excitement everyday when they look at our class library. We are a Title 1 school that serves low-income families. My class was created to accommodate the high overflow of students because of that, we have very little in our room.

My Project

My students will utilize the rugs during reading workshop and our daily lessons. They will have a school library that will accommodate the wide range of reading levels our class contains. Each student reads 1-6 books per week depending on their level. Our class selection ranges from Levels G-Z , but can fit on one and a half small book shelves with the bins they are separated into.

Reader's want to read.

They need a diverse choice of books to choose from to keep them interested in reading. With a class library that has the resources for all levels, it will give them to options to keep them excited about reading. The more they read, the better readers they become.
