My students need a high-interest classroom library to do independent classroom reading and nightly reading at home. We need books such as Harry Potter, and The Maze Runner.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty district, I count myself blessed to be a part of a middle school program that focuses on the performing arts. My kids are awesome, resilient, tenacious teenagers who come to the classrooms in our middle school with the world on their shoulders. They truly are a great group of kids.

As their reading teacher, my goal is to instill a love of learning and the confidence to achieve it.

Above all, I strive to create life-long readers.

My Project

I am requesting several book series to supplement our classroom library. My students use my books in class, in other classes, and at home. I require they choose a book that engages them for independent reading. It's the first thing we do together. We learn how to find a story that speaks to us. They have requested many series that I have not otherwise been able to acquire.

I love that kids who claim to hate reading are devouring the high-interest books that I try to stock on my shelves.

I have so many kids asking for Harry Potter, Goosebumps and Bluford High! I would love, love, love to put more books within their reach.
