Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are bright curious, hard-working 6th graders at a social justice humanities magnet program at a Los Angeles public school. I learn new things from my students everyday - their brilliance, compassion and humor never fail to inspire me!
This is my students' first year in middle school, and the first year back in the classroom after a year of closures due to COVID-19.
My goal is to make this the best year ever for my students! They are kind, caring, and want to change the world, and I'm so proud of them.
My Project
These books will help me fulfill my goal of having the most epic classroom library ever!
My students are avid readers with a strong interest in social justice.
They deserve a classroom library that both represents their experiences and inspires them to make a difference in the world. The first step in encouraging students to become lifelong readers, thinkers and scholars is to get them high-interest and engaging books. I'm so excited by the titles in this library and how these stories will motivate them to think critically and compassionately about the world around them.
