My Project

The items I’m requesting will help create a learning environment that feels welcoming, engaging, and supportive of both academic and social-emotional needs.

My students are special because each and every one of them brings great energy to the classroom.

I have been able to build a strong sense of community with them, where they hear each other’s unique experiences and form meaningful connections.

I have chosen books that are specifically relevant to Hawai'i, such as Lei and the Fire Goddess, Pau: The Last Song of the Kaua’i ‘o’o, Hi'iaka and Pana'ewa, the Illustrated Hawaiian Dictionary, and Notable Native People. These will enrich our classroom library and provide my students with diverse, culturally relevant texts. These stories will allow my students to learn more about the culture, language, and deep history of Hawai'i, and I hope many will see themselves reflected in the literature we read.

One of my main goals is to create a nurturing and engaging classroom environment where students feel comfortable, at ease, and supported. The bean bag chairs will create a comfortable reading and relaxation corner where students can unwind, reflect, or work on collaborative projects. Having a flexible space like this promotes comfort with reading and gives students a cozy place to focus during independent work. I also hope to enhance the classroom atmosphere by adding lights and a mini tree to create a more welcoming, spirited environment for everyone.

Throughout the school year, I enjoy having science class competitions and educational science games, and I reward the winners with snacks, which is why I chose Pringles as prizes.
