Classroom Library Refresh!

Help me give my students a lifelong love of reading by filling our fifth grade classroom library with books that ignite imagination and joy.

My Project

Moving grade levels means that my classroom library requires a refresh in order to keep students engaged and in love with reading! My goal is to provide my students with various options for free reading time that allows them to dive into books that they might not have access to at home. During this time, they are able to read, not to answer comprehension questions, or to develop their fluency, but simply to deepen their imagination and love of reading. This sparks joy that makes them want to keep coming to school and be part of our classroom community where learning is actually fun.The book bins and sets I have selected are purposefully targeted for the fifth graders and their interests. They are a mix of some older titles and authors and some newer ones! My hope is to build on these book sets as the year goes on so that the students are hooked on a series and continue to read through it's entirety during the year and maybe even into summertime and beyond!

The books donated to my classroom library will not only benefit the 20-30 students in my classroom for next school year, but all of my students for the years to come!

All of our students at Veterans Elementary are exceptional. They show up every day and work hard. They are kind, they take ownership of their learning. Many of them are multilingually gifted, and others gifted in so many different ways! They each have their unique spark. Reading is another way to discover that.
