My Students
The students in the community I serve come from many different socioeconomic backgrounds. They come from all walks of life. Our school strives to provide these students with a positive learning community in order for them to succeed. We work hard as a whole to lay down the path that will lead these young scholars college-bound.
My first-grade students are eager young scholars!
They love to learn and are enthusiastic learners. They love to learn about everything and anything!
My Project
As part of an equity pilot school, I have set a goal this year to overhaul our classroom library by filling it with diversity books that students can connect with and books students can see themselves in. With such a diverse group of students, I want each student to feel seen in our classroom. I want them to be able to pick books weekly and see themselves in our library books. Not only will we use them for read alouds and discussions, but they will also be able to enjoy reading them on their own! I also want to provide my bilingual Spanish speaking students books in their native language in hopes that they take them home to read with their grown-ups.
