I have a group of 20 sweet 3rd graders who are so eager to learn. They show up every day and put 100% effort into all the learning that we do. I could not ask for a better group of kiddos! I’m so excited to bring more 21 century experiences into our classroom family. This will allow them to gain skills that will not just help them in 3rd grade, but throughout their educational experience and into their lives! Thank you in advance for helping me give my kids the resources they need to succeed.
My Project
This school year I have noticed a decline in my students overall interest in reading. I believe this is in part a result of the pandemic. While at home last year many students were not engaged in reading as they had been in previous school years. In fact, television, YouTube, and video games are how majority of my students spend their free time. I have now realized that my current classroom library is not helping this situation because it lacks books that pique the interest of my students! I sat down and asked each of my kids individually what kind of books they like or specific names to books they would like to read. All of those are reflected in this project.
My students have access to books online, however, there is nothing like holding a real book in your hand!
The books I am requesting are relevant, interesting, and reflect the diversity of students in my classroom. I am excited to watch them fall in love with reading by giving them access to books that they are eager to read!
