My students need books in the Who Was series, the Magic Tree House series, Dr. Seuss, and other fun books that will help them improve their reading skills.

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I'm a special education teacher at an elementary school. I've created a positive and productive environment for kindergarten - sixth grade students to learn at their level while closing the educational gap so they can be more successful in their general education classrooms.
I work at a high poverty dual-immersion (Spanish) school.
My students all have mild to moderate learning disabilities that impact their educational experience. They work hard and are determined to be successful. School can be frustrating for them, but in my classroom they are set up to succeed and build confidence in their abilities. They have independent, yearly goals in math, reading, writing and social skills that support their learning in their general education classrooms.
My Project
Reading is difficult for my students. As a result, it isn't always enjoyable. I'd like to have a classroom library that inspires my students to read. The Who Was...? book series is a fun series full of biographies that include musicians, political figures, scientists, and other inspirational people. The Magic Tree House series takes young readers on adventures through time to learn about history, places, and even myths and legends. Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein books are favorites of my students and I definitely need them on my shelves. Pete the Cat books are perfect for my younger students.
I am a first year teacher and I inherited a small classroom library that definitely needs an update.
Most of my students do not have many books at home. My goal is to find engaging books that give my students a reason to read.
