This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My sixth graders are amazing, intelligent, and creative individuals who happen to live in a low-income era. Their opportunities and access to resources are limited and the school is also underfunded. My goal as their teacher is to bridge this enrichment gap by bringing essential resources and opportunities for growth into my classroom.
Additionally, half of my students are classified as Gifted and Talented (GATE) and half are English language learners.
In order to provide reading and learning opportunities for all of them, I need a broad range of texts from 3rd grade to 8th grade level.
My Project
Please help me to build a classroom library rich with fun and engaging titles that will encourage my students to read and boost their literacy achievement. My students range from beginning reading levels to 8th grade level.
I hope to provide all of my students with equal access to texts at their reading level.
I want every child in my classroom to feel welcome, fully supported, and have the opportunity to build their skills in and love of literacy. Texts include those that will be used for group or guided reading activities, as well as texts for readers workshops. Please help us reach our goal!
