"Books, to the reading child, are so much more than books -- they are dreams and knowledge, they are a future, and a past."(1940) ~ Esther Meynell ~
My students are superstars!
They are so eager to learn and will try anything! Our school is a Title One School in a low-economic neighborhood. Many of my students struggle with reading and are English Language Learners. They are still developing the skills needed to read, speak and understand the English language.
My Project
A classroom library is very important. Many struggling readers in the upper grades need a hook into reading. A classroom library filled with an assortment of fun and interesting books is a great way to help these struggling readers find a book or series that sparks their interests and helps them become more successful. Book bins and a fun carpet will help to add to the area for the students to enjoy their books. Many of my students may not have books at home to read and practice their skills with. A classroom library really helps to foster a love of books and reading in a low economical area.
